Steady Take is an attempt to illuminate the US energy market by focusing on how local communities and state governments interact with oil & gas companies. I currently live in Louisiana, and able to see first hand how the natural gas boom is set to drastically change large swathes of the nation.
But raised in New York City, I tend to notice the harm oil & gas extraction causes more so than the average Louisianan. Climate Change and oil spills are massive problems that rightly receive national attention, and should probably garner much more. In addition, there local Gulf Coast communities that face existential threats because of the energy industry… these are the stories that are hardly reported on. That’s why I started Steady Take.
